Final deadline for exhibitor applications, February 25, is fast approaching.
In 2022, the Japan International Welding Show (JIWS) will be held at Tokyo Big Sight on July 13 to 16, 2022. It is its 27th time since the event was launched in 1969. The JIWS is Japan’s largest trade fair dedicated to welding and joining technology. For 53 years, the event has been held every two years, alternating between Tokyo and Osaka. We are currently accepting applications from exhibitors. By the deadline for “early bird” applications in June of this year, we had received far more applications than at the same stage of our previous Tokyo show (2018). The final deadline for applications, February 25, is not far away.
JIWS 2022 features a vast assortment of welding and joining-related products and information, all under one roof. The exhibition spans many different fields, from welding and cutting to laser processing, thermal spraying, surface reforming, and nondestructive testing, and includes hot topics such as metal 3D printers, CFRP process technology, and even IoT and AI. The show also happens to be Japan’s biggest event for laser processing technology.
The majority of show visitors are real end-user engineers and technical experts, working for manufacturers, dealers, universities, research institutes, and government agencies. These people work in a wide variety of industries, including automobiles, electrical machinery, electronics, shipbuilding, construction, railway vehicles, aircraft, industrial machinery, chemicals, petroleum, steel, and other metals.
For the upcoming show, we are working to enhance trade show-related functions for exhibitors through a number of useful initiatives that will benefit both exhibitors and visitors. These include the following: (1) A free business matching system—We are implementing an appointment system to help exhibitors win new customers and promote sales, by matching pre-registered visitors and exhibitors and enabling them to exchange information before the event, so that they can hold more effective business negotiations during the show. (2) Theme-based solution mini seminars—Exhibitors will hold problem-solving seminars of approximately 5 minutes within an open space of the show venue for interested visitors. (3) Business lounge—We will make available suitable spaces where exhibitors can meet up with Japanese and overseas visitors to hold business discussions.
Another attraction of JIWS 2022 is its diverse program featuring special and show-related events. In addition to improved seminars, the show will be enlivened by popular special and related events, held both inside and outside the show venue. Specifically, these include the following: (1) “Big 5 Forums” (laser processing, smart processes, steel processing, nondestructive testing, coatings)—These events will organically link exhibitions specially set up in zones within the show venue with talks in conference halls; to make the show even more dynamic, these seminars will feature everything from displays and demonstrations of state-of-the-art equipment and materials, to talks by world-class authorities and frontline engineers who are experts on the fundamentals and applications of cutting-edge technologies, all under one roof. (2) Trend Seminars—These are presentations by invited speakers and exhibitors. (3) Theme-based Solution Mini Seminars—These are short presentations by exhibitors for visitors, focused on individual topics such as automation, saving energy, and human resource development.
On top of all this, the International Institute of Welding (IIW) Annual Assembly and International Conference, and Asian Welding Federation (AWF) events, which attract large numbers of people from Japan and abroad, will be held at the same time as the show.
As outlined above, the JIWS 2022 will not only bring together, under one roof, welding and joining-related technology and information from all over Japan and the rest of the world, but also offer a variety of value-added services for exhibitors to enhance the trade show-related functions. So why not take this opportunity to join us at the show, as an exhibitor or visitor.
